At this time, there is no specific training offered by tertiary institutions in Australia to become a Child Life Therapist.
The Executive committee have developed a training package designed to be undertaken by Child Life Therapists currently employed within an Australian healthcare setting. The goal of this is to support the transition of therapists from the education to healthcare setting whilst also ensuring consistency in training across the nation for both new and existing staff.
This training package is still being finalised with the committee currently developing a set of guidelines to explain how to engage with the document and access readings. This will also include a list of mentors who have already completed the package and will provide support and feedback to therapists as they undertake the modules.
